I keep seeing people upping ratings for slash fic because it's slash fic. It infuriates me.
“Gay relationships” and “concepts of gay relationships” are not a reason to bump the rating.
Say it with me:
“Gay relationships” and “concepts of gay relationships” are not a reason to bump the rating.
“Gay relationships” and “concepts of gay relationships” are not a reason to bump the rating.
“Gay relationships” and “concepts of gay relationships” are not a reason to bump the rating.
Is there some heavy petting? PG-13 is warranted. There are two dudes/gals/etc., they are in a relationship, and there is Disney-style kissing? Then G is fine.
Needlessly bumping the rating just because there are two dudes/gals/etc. who are in love continues the idea that there is something inappropriate or illicit about same-sex relationships merely existing.
There isn’t. Stop perpetuating heterosexism.

Everywhere else I give it a proper rating... though if the story borderlines 2 ratings I tend to go with the higher rating. But, I just consider that proper cma tactics.
Depending on the type of heavy petting... it may be R. Not because of the nature (homosexuality)... but because of the content... (super descriptive of the act/type of heavy petting.)
You know what I mean, lol. They need to be doing something a M/F pairing would be rated PG-13 or R or whatever for it to be legit.
Also, heterosexism is an awesome word and is pertinent to my
rantsinterests. I shall endeavour to use it more often when complaining about idiots making Sweden straight.
